Born in Leningrad in 1987, Yaroslav Zaboyarkin graduated from the St Petersburg State Conservatory in 2011 with a degree in violin, and graduated from the Conservatory in 2016 as an opera and symphony conductor. Yaroslav Zaboyarkin studied with conductors Yuri Temirkanov, Neeme Järvi and Paavo Järvi. In 2011, Yaroslav joined the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Russia’s oldest and finest symphony orchestra,ranking one of top ten worldwide.
In recognition of the merit of the young conductor, Yuri Temirkanov trusted Yaroslav to lead St.Petersburg Philharmonic orchestra during the concert series «Debut of a young conductor» which is relaunched in season 2018/2019. After the concert, critics wrote: “It was gratifying to see how one of the most difficult Russian orchestras to engage with was drawn into the conductor’s game with great delight. Another important skill possessed by young Maestro is keeping the fiery stream of feelings in the granite channel of intellect”.

Yaroslav assisted Paavo Järvi, Chief Conductor of the Tonhalle Zurich Orchestra, founder of the Estonian Festival Orchestra during tours in Germany and Japan in 2018 and 2019.
In 2020, Yaroslav founded a new orchestra within the walls of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic – the New Chamber St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. This idea gained full support of Maestro Yuri Temirkanov. The chamber founder Yaroslav Zaboyarkin was appointed as the chief conductor.
Yaroslav Zaboyarkin is a laureate and prize winner of international competitions in Russia, France, Croatia, Poland, Italy and Japan, laureate of one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious conducting competitions – the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors in Katowice (2017). After the contest, Poland's most important music critics wrote: “His leadership of the orchestra was the most fruitful and colorful. It was the brightest performance at the competition” (Adam Rozlach), “Only he was able to infect the orchestra with his passion for music. So much so that the orchestra sounded like never before in my memory” (Dorota Schwarzman, “Polityka”).
Yaroslav Zaboyarkin performs with the world-famous musicians Vadim Repin, Alexander Rudin,Amit Peled, Andrei Korobeinikov, Polina Osetinskaya, Elena Stikhina, to name a few.
