"Queen of the Violin" Anne-Sophie Mutter 2024 recital
After many years, the “Queen of Violins” Anne-Sophie Mutter came to China on tour, performing two wonderful recitals in Shanghai and Beijing on March 15th and March 17th respectively. As the finale of her Asia tour, Mutter, dressed in a champagne gold bodice gown, performed Mozart, Schubert, Clara Schumann and Respighi with her partner of 36 years, pianist Lambert Aukins, delivering a stunning performance of Mozart, Schubert, Clara Schumann and Respighi for the audiences and music fans in Shanghai and Beijing.
On the evening of March 15, Anne-Sophie Mutter and her long-time partner Orkins, who recorded Beethoven’s Violin Sonatas together and won two Classical Echoes and Grammy awards, opened the show with “The Classical Period”, playing Mozart’s Violin Sonata in G Major, and opened the show with an emotionally delicate and richly layered concert. This was the beginning of an emotional and richly layered concert. Afterwards, Schubert’s “Fantasia in C Major for Violin and Piano”, Schubert’s “Fantasia in C Major”, Clara Schumann’s “Romance” for violin and piano, and Respighi’s “Violin Sonata in B Minor” were played as the grand finale of the concert. After the concert, a CD signing was held at the East Arts Center, and the atmosphere was very enthusiastic.
At noon on March 17, Anne-Sophie Mutter received a group interview with the media at the NCPA, answering questions about the consideration of the choice of repertoire for this concert, the current state of classical music, and sharing with the media the insights of more than 40 years of playing and the insights of recent years. That night, in the long-lasting applause and cheers, Mutter returned four times, Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 1 and Hungarian Dance No. 2, as well as John Williams’ soundtrack for the movie Cinderella Liberty in the 70s, Nice to Be Around, and the familiar Schindler’s List.
